Ritchies launches digital loyalty program

Ritchies has transformed its traditional loyalty program into an “intuitive and shopper focused” mobile app to strengthen engagement both in and out of store. According to Ritchies, the platform allows the business to deliver targeted offers and tactical campaigns to drive commercial results – more foot traffic to store, and more sales – through a data lead customer-centric strategy. Ritchies CEO Fred Harrison says the new loyalty platform is a significant step forward in how the retailer does business and engages with its shoppers. “It’s good for our customers and it’s good for our suppliers,” he says. “[The] key is the ability we now have to better understand what our customers need and want. The platform is world-class. We are delighted to be working with TCC Global.” The post Ritchies launches digital loyalty program appeared first on Retail World Magazine . from Retail World Magazine https://ift.tt/35oWIPG via IFTTT

New Coles carpark created with recycled soft plastics

Coles has partnered with recycling organisations RED Group and Replas to create and install a concrete slab carpark made partly out of recycled soft plastics. Under installation at Coles Horsham in Victoria, the carpark is claimed to be the first commercial construction project in Australia to make use of Polyrok (promoted as a sustainable alternative to aggregate minerals used in concrete, such as stone). Made from plastic bags and soft plastic packaging recovered from the REDcycle program, Polyrock has the potential to divert 105,000 tonnes of soft plastics from landfill each year, if used in commercial concrete projects across Australia. Replas Joint Managing Director Mark Jacobsen says that Polyrok reduces the carbon footprint due to the reduced thermal mass it provides. “This tackles the plastic problem and climate change all while being fit for purpose,” he says. “If innovative products like this were adopted in all buildings and car parks, the collective reduction in green...

NRA outline vaping plan to reduce harm

The National Retail Association (NRA) is outlining a different approach to legalising the sale of vaping products, in its submission to the Senate Inquiry. Previously the NRA have expressed concern with the current plan. The NRA’s submission proposes a model that would allow small business to transition away from cigarettes. It requires strict regulation, in line with existing cigarette sales laws, but will open a pathway for both smokers and retailers to quit cigarettes. The submission proposes a regulatory framework developed by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission to regulate smoke-free tobacco products, based on the three principles – reducing harm, helping Australian smokers, and protecting Australian kids. “This model recognises that 20,000 retailers – who already have trusting relationships with Australia’s 3 million smokers – are well placed to act as the frontline in helping customers move to a less harmful product category,” says the NRA submission. “And ...
