Sephora taps Instacart for same-day delivery

Sephora has partnered with grocery delivery app Instacart, allowing it to offer same-day delivery in the US and Canada.

Customers will be able to shop from the retailer’s make-up and beauty range through the Instacart app, accessing promotions and earning points on orders placed.

Once the order is placed, the Instacart personal shopper will pick and deliver the order according to the shopper’s preference.

The same-day delivery service is now available in stores in California and Canada, with the option set to expand to over 400 stores in coming weeks.

Carolyn Bojanowski, SVP and GM of eCommerce for Sephora, said: “We’re always looking for unique, yet practical ways to meet our clients at every touchpoint; and now more than ever, we know they seek ease and convenience. With our Instacart partnership, we can offer a new same-day delivery service option to our existing clients, and also introduce some of the benefits of being a Sephora client to Instacart’s marketplace.”

Chris Rogers, VP of retail at Instacart, said: “Instacart has become part of the household rhythm for people across North America looking to have the groceries and goods they need delivered same-day from the retailers they know and love. For many people, the essentials they need go beyond fresh food and pantry staples and, over the last few years, we’ve seen an increase in customer demand for personal care, wellness and beauty products.

“Today, we’re excited to welcome Sephora to Instacart, delivering more selection to customers looking for a seamless, same-day shopping experience from their favourite beauty retailer. We’re proud to bring Sephora’s unrivaled product choice – from emerging brands to trusted favorites – their leading rewards program and inspiring shopping experience to the Instacart marketplace. Now, for the first time ever, customers across North America can get their makeup, skincare, wellness products and more delivered from the Sephora store to their door in as fast as an hour.”

Instacart delivery costs $3.99 for same-day orders over $35, with fees varying for one-hour deliveries, club store deliveries, and deliveries under $35.

The membership programme Instacart Express offers free delivery on orders over $35 per retailer.

Orders have to be above $10 to be eligible for delivery, a threshold that most Sephora products will clear relatively easily.

Michael Law Although most Americans have now heard about CBD, many are very confused and concerned about product quality. This is inhibiting trial in the category and holding back conversion into sales. Furthermore, in 2018 and 2019, the FDA sent notices to a substantial number of CBD manufacturers advising them of serious concerns about product quality or egregious medical claims. The impirica brand looks different than most CBD brands — the brand name itself connotes testing and trust, says Eagle Labs chief commercial officer Michael Law. “It doesn’t use the traditional category colors of browns and greens, and you won’t find a hemp...
