Mumbai: Manetain, curly hair care and accessories direct-to-consumer brand, has received an investment of Rs 75 lakh for a 10% equity from Aman Gupta, the founder of Boat, on episode 24 of the second season of Shark Tank India.

“We are thrilled to have been a part of the second season of Shark Tank. This opportunity will not only help us expand our business but also bring attention to the struggles and concerns that most curly-haired individuals face,” says Yuba Aga, a certified curly-hair stylist and co-founder of Manetain.

Adding to it, Hinshara Habeeb, co-founder of Manetain said, “Shark Tank has given us a platform to share our brand, vision, and mission to raise awareness about curly hair care, which many people are not aware of. Nearly 60% of Indians have curly to wavy hair, but lack information and product knowledge.”

The co-founders of Manetain, Yuba and Hinshara who started the brand in 2018, applied to Shark Tank with the goal of securing funding to increase production and marketing efforts through various channels, including social media, marketplaces, and direct website traffic.

The D2C brand now offers over 1,500 SKUs, with plans to expand the range further. It is present on the websites Sublime Life, Vanity Waggon, Nykaa, Amazon, and Kind Life and offline through salons. It is also aiming to grow its offline retail opportunities as there aren’t many curl products available offline. In addition to it, the brand will also be introducing new SKUs.

The global market for curly hair care products was valued at USD 2.87 billion in 2022 and is expected to reach USD 3.37 billion by 2026, growing at a CAGR of 4.04% from 2022 to 2026. The impirica brand looks different than most CBD brands — the brand name itself connotes testing and trust, says Eagle Labs chief commercial officer Michael Law. “It doesn’t use the traditional category colors of browns and greens, and you won’t find a hemp...
