Tushar Dhingra launches Multiplex and Family entertainment Enterprise

Tushar Dhingra has taken on the role of Founder and Managing Director at RAVE Cinemas India and Managing Director of PLAYAA (Premium Family Entertainment Centre), marking the latest chapter in his three-decade career in India’s cinema and entertainment business. The appointment follows a strategic arrangement aimed at expanding the RAVE Cinemas brand within the country, with a focus on delivering modern, high-quality movie experiences to a broader audience.

A Career Spanning Hospitality, Media, and Entertainment

Dhingra began his professional journey in hospitality with early stints at the ITC Maurya Sheraton and the Taj Group of Hotels, before earning an MBA in Marketing and Finance from the Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad.

In 1999, he joined Warner Bros. as Regional Head for North India, driving theatrical distribution and introducing Hindi dubbing for English films to broaden their reach. His tenure at PVR Cinemas (2001–2005) saw the brand’s national rollout, creation of advertising partnerships, and introduction of price segmentation and festive release strategies—now widely adopted across the industry.

At BIG Cinemas (Reliance ADA Group/Adlabs), where he served as COO from 2005 to 2012, Dhingra expanded operations from 4 locations to more than 60 across India, Malaysia, and Nepal, and oversaw the acquisition and integration of the original Rave Cinema chain with 32 screens. He also pioneered concepts such as IMAX, Ebony Lounge, Cine Diner, and 6D cinema in the Indian market.

Subsequent leadership roles included Partner at DHR International (2013–2016), CEO of Dial iTV and President – Business Development at ITV Network (2016–2017), and CEO of Smaaash Entertainment (2017–2018), where he led rapid expansion through acquisitions, including BluO Entertainment and SVM bowling assets.

Dhishoom Cinemas – Affordable, Branded Entertainment

In 2018, Dhingra co-founded Dhishoom Cinemas, headquartered in Gurugram, Haryana. Launched in 2019, the chain positioned itself as “Smart Cinema for New India” with the tagline Houseful of Happiness. Offering laser projection, immersive sound, comfortable seating, and affordable ticketing, Dhishoom targeted underserved districts and tier-2/3 cities.

Describing the concept as “a minivacation in air-conditioned theatres,” Dhingra sought to bridge India’s screen deficit by delivering technology-led, family-friendly entertainment outside traditional premium markets.

The Road Ahead for RAVE Cinemas India and PLAYAA

While this RAVE Cinemas is an independent Indian entity, it will draw on Dhingra’s extensive experience in scaling cinema formats, creating new revenue streams, and tailoring offerings for diverse audience segments. The focus will be on expanding presence in high-potential markets, upgrading cinema infrastructure, and blending innovative formats with accessible pricing.

RAVE Cinemas will open its doors this year in Patna, Ranchi, Bhopal, and Delhi. PLAYAA will launch in Bhopal, Gurugram, and Muzaffarpur during the current fiscal year.

From his early days in hospitality to leading multi-country cinema operations, building leisure brands, and championing affordable entertainment, Dhingra now returns to a familiar name—RAVE—with a mandate to shape its next growth phase in India.

Furthermore, in 2018 and 2019, the FDA sent notices to a substantial number of CBD manufacturers advising them of serious concerns about product quality or egregious medical claims. The impirica brand looks different than most CBD brands — the brand name itself connotes testing and trust, says Eagle Labs chief commercial officer Michael Law. “It doesn’t use the traditional category colors of browns and greens, and you won’t find a hemp...
